About Us

Stanley Golf Club

Established in 1909 in the picturesque seaside town of Stanley.

Par 66, Golf Australia rating of 100.

Challenging 9 hole course with tree and coastal grass lined fairways, bunker and sand dam.

Typical UK links style course with well-maintained fairways and greens.

The opening par 5 hole sets you up to keep it straight as on the right it’s out of bounds into farming pasture.

The remainder of the course consists of four par 4’s and four par 3’s each with its own name character.

Thereafter don’t be lulled into a false sense of security as you must keep your concentration to move the ball left and right to avoid the thick coastal grass edges known locally as marram grass. The maritime winds cause havoc from time to time.

Members can check their handicaps on the Golf Australia Site.

Course

The Stanley Golf Course is an impressive 9 hole links course situated in the small coastal town of Stanley on the NW coast of Tasmania.

The course consists of one par 5 and four par 4’s and four par 3’s. The fairways are lined with trees and coastal seaside marram grass which can prove quite tricky to hit out of.

The Club House

The club has a relaxed dress code with clubs available for hire and a bar open most days to relax and talk amongst yourselves and the friendly locals about one of the most scenic golf courses you will encounter.

Competitions

There are mixed competitions on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday starting at 12 noon with visitors most welcome. At other times the course is open and if there is no one in the club house use the honesty box to pay your green fee of $20.00.

Each Friday night the club transforms into a popular night spot with draws to win local meat and seafood. Come along you are invited to join the members and guests.

The club house is also used for other functions such as weddings.

The Stanley Nut

Ever watchful is the guardian of the town a massive volcanic plug known as The Nut towering over you.

You will spot many varieties of cockatoo including yellow-tailed-black, sulphur crested and bronze, ducks, wedge tailed eagles and falcons, wrens, plovers, rosellas and crows.

Watching your round you will most likely be wallaby’s, possums and occasional spotted quoll, bandicoot and yes of course the Tasmanian Devil.
